The Bantry Grove property was purchased in the 1930′s by Terrey Johnson’s father. Located on the rim of the Bathurst Valley to the very South of the Orange Region, the land features rich volcanic soils and an elevation of 960 metres. The property was the Johnson family’s sheep and cattle farm until the 1990s when the first vines were planted covering 12.2 hectares.
The vineyard is carefully nurtured to promote its unique natural bio-diversity, all grapes are hand picked during vintage and a minimal interventionist approach is taken throughout the growing period.
Bantry Grove have been producing contracted grapes to leading wineries throughout Orange and the Hunter Valley for many years.
In 2004, Terrey Johnson decided to create the Bantry Grove wine brand and began to use his grapes to make his own range of cool climate wines. The distinct terroir and elevation of the Bantry Grove vineyard produce savoury soft reds and full flavoured aromatic whites.
