The Baptista is a spicy, savoury and typically mineral shiraz from a refurbished dryland vineyard planted in 1891 at Greytown, which despite all logic and sense was attached to the region of Heathcote, with whose wines and terroirs it has absolutely nothing in common.
The best vintages marry the spicy, gamey fruit and the silkiest of fine tannins, within a typically central Victorian framework of mint and menthol.
