One of Australia's leading wine chemists for many years, Brian Barry established his own vineyard in the Clare Valley in 1977. Today he is still involved in all aspects of viticulture and winemaking, although his son, Judson Barry, has taken over the more physical aspects.
The vineyards were planted in 1977; are dry grown and yield very low crops (often less than a tonne per acre). Owning approximately 60 acres in Clare that are planted to Riesling, Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet. Most of the grapes are used for their own production but any excess has historically been sold off to Petaluma.
