Jasper Hill has experienced a career in two halves. It’s still a dryland vineyard, and for the first half of its existence, it produced firmly structured, deeply flavoured and finely balanced shiraz without even a thought towards water availability and moisture stress.
Recent vintage have seen the Laughtons come more to terms with their new, drier circumstances. While there's clearly evident a will to create wines of more restraint and less overripe flavour, it does however remain a challenge to produce evenly ripened fruit when seasons create water stress.
They skillfully produce a range of Shiraz, Riesling, Nebbiolo, Grenache and Semillon.
