Among the many personalities that have shaped the Australian wine industry over the past 150 years one name stands pre-eminent: Leo Buring.

Hermann Paul Leopold Buring was born in South Australia on the 7th October 1876, the son of German immigrants. Dux of the Oenology course at Roseworthy Agricultural College in 1896, Buring was a highly skilled winemaker, wine judge and educator and is often described as “Australia’s Ambassador for Wine.”

As winemaker of Leo Buring since 2009, Peter Munro believes, “it is an honour to make wines under the Leo Buring label. The brand has such a rich history, the vineyards are second to none and the quality of the wines is revered.

The goal of Leo Buring is a very simple one: to make the best Riesling in Australia.
