Atze’s Corner Wines produces Irresistible Old Vine and other premium limited production wines, and was founded by sixth generation Barossa Valley vigneron Andrew Kalleske in 2005. His family’s involvement in the Barossa wine industry dates back to 1847, when his ancestor Karl Heinrich Kalleske first settled in the area, after immigrating from Eastern Prussia. The foundation of this artisan brand lies in low-yielding 1912 and 1951 Barossa Valley Shiraz vines planted adjacent to the locally known Atze’s Corner – an unassuming plot of land to the east of Nuriootpa on the Barossa Valley floor. Using fruit hand-selected from these and other Kalleske family vines throughout the Barossa Valley, Atze’s Corner wines are made with minimal intervention – open, small-batch fermentation, hand-plunging and pumping and oak maturation are the trademarks of this unobtrusive approach.
