The Barossa Valley is acknowledged as the home of Australia’s finest wines. Château Tanunda is the birthplace of the Barossa’s wine industry, where some of the first plantings and the first winery were established in the 1840s.
Starting life as a winery/distillery in 1890, Chateau Tanunda’s extensive history and winery make it an impressive landmark for the Barossa Valley. The expansive buildings and grounds (including a cricket ground), have been proudly restored by the current owner - John Geber. The quality of the wines has continued to improve in recent years drawing upon good access to old vines and returning to small batch winemaking. The “Terroirs of the Barossa” range display classic regional opulence, intensity of flavour and thick texture.
