Mt. Samaria Vineyard is part of the Upper Goulburn Winegrowers Association, and the first plantings were in 1992, consisting of 4 acres of Shiraz , 2 acres of Tempranillo and small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Gris. Initially grapes were sold to Delatite Winery from 1996 and the first commercial release of Mt. Samaria Vineyard wine was in 1999.
