Few wineries in Australia, let alone the world, can boast a continuous winemaking heritage of over 160 years. From its humble beginnings in 1851, when Joseph Seppelt established Seppeltsfield in the Barossa, to today: renowned for producing elegant shiraz, table and sparkling wines from an exceptional collection of Victorian vineyards. Seppelt has paved the way in progressive cool climate style wines; producing Australia’s first sparkling wine, as well as pioneering the iconic sparkling shiraz.
Often overlooked by many wine consumers, but those in the trade certainly believe that the wines from the house of Seppelt continue to over-deliver right from the bottom to the top of the range.
Cool climate Shiraz is at the core of this brand, with exceptional examples such as the 'Chalambar' and 'St Peter's' wines (previously known as Great Western Shiraz). The Riesling and Chardonnays from their Drumborg vineyard in the Henty are up there amongst the finest.
However one trip visit and taste in the labyrinth of tunnels (called The Drives) under this historic winery, will have you hooked forever.
