Thompson Estate is a very different wine business whose owner, Peter Thompson, has been able to persuade some of the best winemakers around to assist with the making of their own signature varieties. The estate does well with the three main regional specialities. I have upgraded several older ratings on the basis of having tasted fresher bottles.
